Travelling Vancouver Island
Touring Vancouver Island now. Started on inside northern section. Headed North first, then south and west later in the month.
Apr 2026 - BC Vancouver Island
British Columbia - Part 9 - Near Strathcona Park
Camping on BC Hydro lands just outside the park. Beautiful spot. The Steller's Jay is BC's official bird. These ones are used to campers.
British Columbia - Part 8 - Strathcona Park
In the middle of the island is a cluster of its tallest mountains. It's an amazing place.
British Columbia - Part 7
I have wanted to visit Vancouver Island and Haida Gwaii ever since I heard of the Haida as a kid. Finally here. Landed in Comox then drove north to Campbell River.
These are the most dangerous waters in BC they say, Seymour Narrows. It's BC/Alaska's main intercoastal waterway. In 1958 they blew up 2 underwater mountain peaks (Ripple Rock) that caused shipwrecks. 1.2-1.5 Kiloton TNT blast. 2nd largest explosion in Canadian history (after Halifax).
Apr 2026 - BC Sunshine Coast
British Columbia - Part 6
The Sunshine Coast is the coast north of Vancouver accessible by a series of ferries. Anyone watch the Beachcombers TV series?
Mar 2026 - Various Okanagan
British Columbia - Part 5
Mostly some last pictures from Vaseux Lake and the Similkameen valley as drive out of the Okanagan.
Feb 2026 - Similkameen Valley

This is back home at the lake at the end of the day

Have started to take day trips from Oliver. This area is to the south and east of me.
